The desires of Venture Capitalists investing in Africa’s Technology startups have increased significantly year on year due to the increasing potential of high Return on Investment (ROI) in a Technology venture in Africa.

In 2012, a total of $40.665m of VC funds was invested in this space in Africa. The value increased to $128m in 2013, and $414 in 2014. This investment is projected to reach about $608 million by 2018, almost 1500% increase over the period, and also reaching about 18% of Africa’s nominal GDP.

The technology space in Africa is marginally harnessed with roughly 300 innovation centers and a hug potential for growth.

The transition from the margins to the mainstream global economy has increased Africa’s Technology opportunities significantly. In Ghana, the government is bent on accelerating IT enhanced systems to meet its developmental agenda.

In launching its GLOBAL IMPACT DRIVE project; TENTMAKER GHANA included APP/WEB Solution as one of three areas to build viable enterprises with daring young and/or old men and women for the global market. The project is focused on harnessing viable ideas and with guidance from industry mentors and business minded trainers, develop models to be co-owned by participants and investors.

The project is targeted at three main areas, i.e. APP/WEB SOLUTION | AGRIBUSINESS | FASHION.

Five entrepreneurs/partners will be selected for each of the three targeted solution areas (TSAs) and will be mentored and equipped with the necessary understanding, skills and resources to develop prototypes and scalable models for the global market. The candidates will work within six and twelve months at the Tentmaker incubator hub center and will co-own the business with investors.
